The move, suburb by suburb

Two kinds of Newcastle move

Every Newcastle move leans one of two ways: the short, hard carry across the inner city, or the long run down the M1 to Sydney. We rank our suburbs by how often a move there is a Sydney-corridor job rather than a cross-town one, and colour each by what makes the local carry hard. Pick yours for the local detail and a quote.

Estimate the M1 run before you call

The Newcastle to Sydney move is the one we run most, and the corridor itself is the cost people forget: about 165km and two hours each way. The Sydney Corridor Estimator builds an honest indicative range from your direction, home size and access, shows the corridor on a map, and prints a one-page brief to bring to your quote.

Why choose us

Local knowledge, careful hands, honest quotes

We plan the corridor as one job

A Newcastle to Sydney move is a load, a two-hour drive and an unload, all in a day. We plan it as one run, not two half-jobs, and offer a backload when your dates are flexible to keep the price down.

Heritage carries are our normal day

A piano up a Cooks Hill staircase, a fridge through a Carrington cottage, a lounge into a Newcastle East walk-up. The inner city is narrow halls and tight frontages, and we bring the hands and the protection for it.

Honest about the hard moves

If a truck cannot reach your door, or Stockton means the long drive around rather than the ferry, we tell you up front and cost it in, rather than discovering it on the day.

Insured, every move

Your belongings are covered while we are carrying them. Wrapping and protecting your furniture and your home is part of the job, not an upsell.

Common questions

Good to know before you move

How much does a Newcastle to Sydney move cost?

It depends on the size of the home and the access at both ends, but the honest variable people forget is the corridor itself: about 165km and two hours each way down the M1, which is real time on top of the load and unload. The Sydney Corridor Estimator on this site gives you an indicative range for exactly that trip before you call.

Why can a cross-town Newcastle move still take a while?

Because the inner city is heritage terraces and worker cottages with long narrow halls, tight frontages and little off-street parking. A short distance with a hard carry takes more hands and more time than a long flat one. We price the real access, not the kilometres.

Can you move to or from Stockton?

Yes, often. Stockton is the one Newcastle suburb across the Hunter, and a removal truck takes the 20km road around via Kooragang, not the passenger ferry. We plan that drive into the day so it is costed up front, not a surprise.

How far ahead should I book?

The earlier the better, especially around month-end and weekends when removalists book out, and especially for a corridor move where the truck is committed for most of the day. A week or two usually secures your date, but get in touch even at short notice and we will do our best.
